Are you people-focused, strong on governance, and visionary about how health and care can transform to meet the demands of the future? We want you to apply to become an NHS board chair in Scotland.
As an NHS Board chair, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding your board through a period of transformation and renewal. The role demands strong leadership, strategic insight, and a clear commitment to improving outcomes for people and communities across Scotland.
Current priorities reflect the scale and urgency of the challenges that NHS boards face, as well as the ambition of their response. Chairs are expected to champion and oversee delivery based on the following strategic policy documents:
- Operational Improvement Plans—by driving efficiency, quality, and performance to ensure sustainable services that meet current and future demand.
- Service Renewal Framework—by embedding learning from the pandemic to reform care pathways and strengthen resilience across health and social care.
- Population Health Framework—by tackling the root causes of poor health and reducing inequalities through a whole system, preventative approach.
- Public Sector Reform—by contributing to cross-sector change through effective governance, collaboration, and innovation.
