Working as a psychiatrist in NHS Fife

A fulfilling career helping people live long and healthy lives should not mean choosing between work and home. We know how important our work is, but we also understand that our staff have a life and responsibilities outside their roles. We will work with you to find balance.

Innovative psychiatric services

Fife is often referenced as 'Scotland in miniature'. This is reflected in national initiatives, which are often piloted in the region by the Scottish Government before they are evaluated or rolled out across the country.

A recent psychiatry example is the adult neurodevelopmental disorder pathway pilot. Fife is also engaged in the national network focused on a personality disorder improvement programme.

NHS Fife is one of Scotland's most innovative psychiatric services, where our clinicians lead from the front. The leadership roles we are recruiting provide an attractive opportunity to drive the design and implementation of psychiatric services at an exciting time for the Health Board.

We have close academic ties with 3 Scottish universities. We offer undergraduate teaching opportunities at the following:

  • University of St Andrews
  • University of Edinburgh
  • University of Dundee

Work with us

Our clinicians provide essential leadership within our service, and all work to clear and well-defined roles and responsibilities.

There is also the opportunity to work with us to determine your remit, which we're relatively flexible about. Further, there are also opportunities for career development, CESR support, and professional activity time to support the development of clinicians' interests.
