Armed Forces Talent Programme
The Armed Forces Talent Programme is an NHS Scotland-wide recruitment initiative for the armed forces community. It supports service leavers, veterans, spouses, partners, dependants, reservists, cadets, and cadet forces adult volunteers to enter our workforce.

NHS Scotland Paid Placements 2026/2027
What are the AFTP's Paid Placements?
The Armed Forces Talent Programme Paid Placements are an excellent opportunity for anyone from the Armed Forces Community looking to serve again - this time in NHS Scotland.
Applications are closing soon for paid placement opportunities starting in September 2026 across NHS Scotland and partner public sector organisations.
Designed for service leavers, reservists, veterans and forces families, the programme helps translate military skills and experience into meaningful civilian careers.
Applicant information sessions took place in June 2026, and recruitment opened in July 2026.
Paid Placements planned for 2026/2027:
- NHS Fife - Career Development Officer - Sustainability (applications closed)
- NHS Lanarkshire - Cyber Security Engineer (applications closed)
- NHS Tayside - Project Officer (applications closed)
- Public Health Scotland - Emergency Planning Response and Resilience Officer (Closing date 24 July): Apply here
- Public Services Delivery Scotland - Project Support Officer (Closing date 24 July): Apply here
