What are transferable skills?

Transferable skills are skills that can be used in lots of different jobs. You will learn them in everyday life. You'll use and improve your skills when you:

  • work
  • study
  • take part in leisure activities or hobbies

What skills are we looking for?

You may already have some of the skills the NHS is looking for. 

Examples of transferable skills include:

  • communication
  • listening
  • building relationships
  • attention to detail
  • problem-solving
  • time management
  • teamwork
  • using technology
