Hi, I'm Robert. I work for NHS Grampian as a modern apprentice cook.
Each day in a hospital I cook nutritious and healthy food for patients and staff.
Before I started the modern apprenticeship, I was working as a cook in a hospital kitchen.
I find out about the modern apprenticeship by my manager, who left us leaflets for reading.
I'm doing this apprenticeship to develop my management and leadership skills. It's keeping me motivated and focused to meet the challenge to the best of my abilities.
I work 8 hours a day, but by adding up another hour, I'm telling myself I'm working 9 hours a day just for my study for one hour spare.
The modern apprenticeship will help me for the future when applying for catering supervisor jobs or catering manager jobs.
The best I find in in my job is cooking and finding new recipes, develop new dishes, and make sure all people enjoy your food.
Communicating it's very important in the kitchen hospital. Taking and passing messages very clear. Follow the instructions, follow the recipe, this is a very important thing.
I recommend a modern apprenticeship for others. It's valuable skills and experience you get while you're working and it's a win-win situation.
