What we do
The NHS in Scotland offers a huge range of exciting and challenging opportunities for people who are passionate about making a difference. From Estates and Facilities staff to Ambulance Services and Clinical Healthcare Support Workers to Healthcare Scientists, 162,192 people are employed by NHSScotland (June 2017). They work across 14 territorial NHS Boards, seven Special NHS Boards and one public health body. Each board is supported by the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates.
Everyone Matters: 2020 Workforce Vision
First published in June 2013, the 2020 Workforce Vision Everyone Matters was developed through engagement with staff and key stakeholders. It sets out the values of NHSScotland and supports our quality ambitions.
Our core values are:
- Care and compassion
- Dignity and respect
- Openness, honesty and responsibility
- Quality and teamwork
"NHSScotland aims to provide safe, effective and person-centred care. Quality and people are at the core of everything we do. By 2020, our vision is that everyone is able to live longer, healthier lives at home or in a homely setting."
NHSScotland boards started implementing the plan from April 2016.
